Sure feels like when we play Duke at Cameron. Facing a high ranked team with a set of high profile coaches. Strong home field advantage. Roster loaded with future high draft picks (olympians for the softball players). Very high expectations nationally that the favored home team will win.

For those of you that have limited experience following women’s fast pitch softball I am trying to give you something to compare the challenge we have going into this super regional. Be excited about the team and opportunity; appreciate the talent on both teams and keep watching this tournament even if VT is not still playing. This will give you a perspective of where our current program stands.

Tonight we will likely be facing the two time national player of the year and one of three finalists for the 2021 award. Yes we beat her once but she received those awards for a reason.

If we fall short recognize the youth on this years team. We have one senior leaving and she hasn’t gotten into the lineup. So everyone should return and we have two recruits signed that have been rated in the top 30 nationally. Pete is building this program the right way and fast. The ACC is starting to gain some national respect at the same time. The future is bright.

If both teams play up to their ability and with experience factoring in we likely come up short. But at the least it’s another building block for next season.
