Lounge Plumbers: dishwasher dilemma...

About half the time my dishes come out smelling like rotten wet dog ass, and the other times completely fine / sparkly fresh. The stench is strong enough I can detect it from another room. Maybe I'm just sensitive to it but it's a truly awful smell.

Only use premium pods, the rinse aid is full, and drain trap is spotless. Dishes are rinsed before going in and nothing exotic goes in to the smelly loads. What gives?
