On this date in 1998 Bear Grylls became one of the youngest persons ever...

...to successfully climb Mt. Everest at age 23. This...only two years after breaking his back when falling from 16,000 feet after his parachute ripped.

Dude has taken some PR hits over the years...but he's a legit bad ass!
