This has been an amazing year for Hokies softball and I would like to suggest a fun challenge to those of you that have been kind enough to read my stories and cheer for the ladies this season.

The ladies use a phrase called "Poppin’ It" whenever one of the pitchers is dealing, or when a player makes a good defensive play, or even a player smacks a hard hit ball. They say that player is “Poppin’ It.”

So I would like to propose a Poppin’ It challenge for TSL Nation, similar to what some of you did for football and basketball.

I am going to make a commitment to the “Hokie Club – Softball” for every strikeout that a Hokie pitcher registers during the NCAA tournament. The dollars won’t necessarily go for a particular event – it’s just a donation to the Softball Program itself.

I’m starting it off with a $10 donation for every K registered during the NCAA tournament. So, if Keely, Ivy, and Ozzy (and anyone else) strikes out 20 during the NCAA tournament, that’s a total of $200 I’m sending to the Hokie Club designated for Hokie softball.

I think this could add an additional level of excitement to the games. The dollar amount is not important, but every dollar counts. If you designate $1 per strikeout, that might be $20 in the example I used above. And it would be $20 extra dollars in the program. And If you want to put a cap on your donation, that’s okay as well. Just give whatever you can!

So I’m in for $10 per K and I look forward to the Hokies Poppin’ It.
