But makes sense now. If I may

The dividends are treated as income as they are gains realized directly from ownership of the stock. Even though I directly re-invest them into the portfolio, it's free money in the year gained that needs taxes paid on it.

Think I've got it now. Just a PITA every year that it soaks up what little refund I might get each year since they are not taxing out the taxes on it.

Oh, and thanks! Feel free to send me a bill for the hours worked on that...
