I went decades ago to the bullfighting museum in Spain...

They listed one bull who "earned" his right to live. Pretty amazing (& disgusting) to watch live. I'm glad I went, but never need to see it again. I did watch one fighter get gored in the leg. He got up and killed the bull and earned an ear, but didn't make it back for his second fight of the day.
