Not a triathlete but..


I do run long distances and cycle a descent amount. At least for these sports comfort is a something that is a personnel preference. You know, don't worry what others are doing. Best advice is to get your son in the water and let him see. Having said all this I know tri athletes are their own breed and marginal gains is something everyone is looking for.

Good news is, all he needs to do to fit in the tri community is not wear socks.
