Because Whit does not control all of the pieces

The area that Whit could partially control, the Hokie Club, he started initiatives like the Drive for 25 years ago.

However, the big funding initiative required:
-Big Money from donors
-Support from the University (non athletic) Directors and President

The bigger question is...why have VT fans sat on their wallets so long while expecting to get something for nothing?
