My experience

My endocrinologist in her experience believes that the generic levothyroxine does not absorb as well as the name brand Synthroid and writes the prescription as medically necessary for name brand. Shes fine with generics for other things I'm on but is firm on that one. That said, it can be dose related. Dosing requiremens do change with weight fluctuations. I've had to both increase and decrease dosage when TSH hormone levels chsnged due to weight loss and weight gain. Tiredness is definitely a symptom of under dosing. As was mentioned already, there can be other causes which I also have experienced, and if TSH levels are normal on the current dose, then other causes should definitely be investigated. In my case it was type 2 diabetes.
