This must come down to their recent futility in football, or perhaps it's the "Conference of Champions" label, or most likely it's Bill Walton and other announcers talking them up. I don't really hate them, but they're getting a little puffy after only four days of action. It made me get out my ACC cheat sheet because of it:

OK Pac-12 homers, congrats on four in the sweet-16...this year. The ACC did that as well in 2019. Actually, my bad, the ACC got five in 2019.
