Worth a try: I'm looking for a fully immersable material for a bench seat

and am struggling to find anything that isn't deliriously expensive.

I'm trying to build a bench for the pool programs at a YMCA. The bench will literally be going into the pool for things like water aerobics and whatnot.

It needs to be light enough to be easily moved, and strong enough to support people sitting on it.

The frame is easy. It's just made of PVC pipe with some holes drilled in it so it will fill with water and sink in the pool, but drain and be light again as you take it out. The seating surface has me stumped. I need either sheets or planks of some kind of plastic, foam, or even aluminum that are sturdy enough to sit on, completely immersable, and preferably in the neighborhood of $2/sq ft or less.

I can't even think what the right keywords would be for a google search.

Anyone got any ideas?

Almost certainly WAY out of the customer's price point -- Tafkam Hokie 03/16/2021 2:24PM

How about a Sunbrella type fabric, that can have -- Old Village Hokie 03/16/2021 10:27AM
I thought of that, but I would need it custom cut and sewn -- Tafkam Hokie 03/16/2021 10:30AM
