My wife is great and probably picks up my slack more than the other way around when it comes to doing inside tasks that I could do, but tend to overlook (or, moreso just do on my own time schedule). Generally, we do a pretty good job of not leaving crap jobs for the other to take care of alone, although my wife doesn't like the way I load the dishwasher or do laundry (I'd contend SHE's the one who does it wrong), so I've just found it's best for both of us if I let her do those tasks. If I try to pitch in, she's going to undo/redo what I did, which leads to bickering. So I just stay out of the way when it comes to these two tasks. Now if she goes away for the weekend, I find myself just naturally doing things like dishes and laundry and I really don't mind them at all. I just have my own way of doing them. I just don't like trying to pitch in only to have my work criticized or undone, so when the rest of the family is home, I stay in my lane.

I take care of all of the home repairs, electronics repairs/troubleshooting, renovation projects, car repairs, and lawn maintenance...which means my list grows faster than I can check things off. And it also means that I never have free time to do anything else, because something is always broken, and because I try to do everything by myself instead of paying someone. Fairly soon that's going to have to change, because I'm starting to get to an age where my body is probably not going to allow me to continue at my current pace.
