in another person is a marvelous sight.

To add to the pile and be thoroughly weird for a VT fan, my honest lasting memory of the 1998 game where we allegedly played Temple is not the soul-crushing loss but seeing the Temple players running around the field hugging each other like Jim Valvano. Hands-down, the greatest day of their young lives so far for most of them.

I can't explain it, but I was almost tearfully happy for them instead of disgusted that my team just lost for some reason. Pretty sure not many in the stadium that day agreed with me, though.
