To followup my rant on warranties Monday, I'd say avoid Thompson Tire
in Christiansburg if you have the means.
Problem 1 - I still don't buy that the tire was damaged. I may not be a tire expert, but I've worked in Quality my whole life and am pretty darned good at visual inspection and seeing if something is out of whack. If there was evidence of damage, it was awfully subtle. And if it was awfully subtle and I have no recollection of a violent encounter with a pothole or curb, that means even if the tire wasn't "defective," it sure as heck is fragile.
Problem 2 - They quoted on the phone replacing it would be $189. Sucks, but I have no recourse, so fine. Get to the shop and it is $205. They had to add taxes and disposal fee. Um, you knew about those when you gave me the price over the phone and rather conveniently forgot to mention them.
Problem 3 - About a mile down the road after pulling out of their parking lot, the low tire pressure indicator comes on. After doing some research and troubleshooting, I found they (a) overinflated the tires, and (b) forgot to reset the TPMS. When the word "tire" is in your company name, you really should know how to inflate tires and reset TPMS properly without me having to come in behind you and fix it.
Unimpressed across the board.
