Sure loved Big Bend

Stayed in the lodge in the Chisos mountains, drink a Shiner while watching the light change on the red rock in the evening sunset.

I did a big loop from Midlands, there's a McClaren museum there if you're into those, Drove through Ft Davis which is a good stop, national park "Indian wars" fort, McDonald Observatory which may or may not have a star watching program these days but really good. Stay at the Indian Lodge Hotel a Texas Parks secret. And buy yourself a cowboy hat at Limpia Creek hats. Oh, they're expensive all right but also the very best. Geology's interesting, basically the other end of the billion year old Appalachians on your way down to Big Bend

Drove back up through NM hiked Guadalupe Mountains - good hiking - and a visit to Carlsbad Caverns.is worthwhile.

Picture 1: your buddies in the Chisos! and they can move too.
Picture 2: "There's a yellow rose of Texas..."
Picture 3: I think this is where the Rio Grande comes out of some rocks, that far wall would be Mexico, also in BB. (PS from reading Vermon's post above that is Santa Elena canyon)
