Likely reaching partial herd immunity in certain sections of population

It is rarely discussed, but the actual number of cases are estimated at 4.5 times the reported numbers due to asymptomatic people and others who may be reluctant to get tested. That means that in certain areas of the country, we are likely passing the 60% threshold which is bringing down numbers, combined with a slight effect from the vaccine rollout which will only improve in the upcoming months. The cities in India have already reached this threshold and have basically no cases, but that is not highlighted by the media at all. The South African variant could eventually cause another small spike in cases, but likely won't result in a spike in hospitalizations or deaths, especially if we can improve the pace of vaccination.
