NCAA Nat'l Wrestling Championship (for Dummies) question

In layman's terms, how is a team (and individual) Nat'l Champion determined?
Is it similar to basketball whereas the regular season qualifies and seeds teams for the final tournament -or- by individual -and- do points re-set at the national tournament?
