...the ship's center of mass, meaning that the recoil exerts a force that would induce rolling of the ship vs. lateral movement parallel with the water's surface. The movement is probably extremely tiny, but there is certainly some miniscule rocking movement induced if all guns are simultaneously fired broadside. The guy in the video explains that the recoil dampers transfer the force of the blast into the ship's frame, but the force doesn't just dissipate to zero - it is transferred from the ship's hull into the water. The water provides formidable resistance, but there is still likely some very miniscule rocking of the hull.
