I am in very real danger of liking the NFL more than college football
My argument for college football was always that the NFL had no soul. It was very corporate and sanitized, and all you were really cheering for was a uniform since the players and coaches come-and-go so readily. If you removed all the logos from the uniforms and stadiums, you'd be hard pressed to tell one team from another since the gameday experience is virtually identical everywhere.
College brings much more uniqueness to the party. Every college town is different from every other one.
But money has completely taken over, we essentially have college free agency now, and I feel the soul of college football is being slowly drained away. College football has all the drawbacks of the NFL now, with the added problem of a lack of parity. Unless you are a fan of the Jets or Lions, you can actually start any given season with some hope. We don't have that in college football anymore.
I feel like the college football I loved for 30 years is either dying or already dead. The NFL is actually more attractive to me. I think I watched more NFL games this season than I did college games that VT wasn't in. First year I can remember saying that.
