I don't think that is the case. I'm not an expert by any means, but I do


recall seeing that the home office must be for the "benefit of the employer", as opposed to it being a convenience for the employee. Meaning, if your employer is providing you a real onsite office, but you choose to work from home, you probably can't claim the deduction. Of course, this year with COVID, they may not be able to provide you an adequate onsite office.
