That's horrible!
When I replace the suspension on one of my vehicles, the car moved a little using a breaker bar. I immediately went to HD to buy a Husky 1/2" impact wrench. That was a great move, since I never saw the car move again when I was breaking torque on old rusty bolts.
But I also do a few extra things for safety. If it's up on jack stands, I'll slide a tire or a tire ramp under the side of the vehicle where I'll be working to limit how far it can drop. Might sustain some bruised or broken ribs, but should survive. I also always have my phone on hand to call for help if I'm alone. I also take it when I climb up on the roof, just in case I knock the ladder over...lol
When I visit the Auto Hobby Shop on base, I double and triple check the lift points before lifting the vehicle. I also look for what way I'm going to dive out of the way if the lift fails. Not sure I'll be able to clear it in time, but it's better than not having a plan.
Everyone should do risk assessments for every hazardous tasks, from using a chain saw or axe, to power tools, to working on vehicles. Take a quick step back and look at what you're doing before you start.
