I never argued Brooks is competent.

My point was that some fans use the lack of an emotional display by a coach after losing as an indicator that the coach doesn’t care about losing. It’s a great example of projection. The fan is upset and wants to see the coach is too. If the coach isn’t visibly upset and conveying the proper emotion (as determined by the fan), then the coach must not care.

It’s silly and obviously wrong. Some coaches are fiery. Others are even-keeled. Most in both groups care about winning.

Notice nowhere in my observation do I make any claims about Brooks’ competence as a coach or effectiveness in late game situations.
