I would contact the administrator of your old 401k to see what your options

are. I'm wondering if there's a chance it would just get dumped into some kind of money market earning minimal interest. I've never seen an annuity as a 401k option, so don't really know how they work. Simplest thing may be to switch it to an S&P 500 index fund if you have that option (or roll it into an IRA).
