Back in day...

Not sure of the year, but around 1960, Blacksburg had a really good team. At that time, there was only one state tournament for all schools regardless of size. Blacksburg of course was not one of the bigger schools but competed with the larger ones in area. Not many schools in Southwest Va had wrestling. The local competition was William Fleming, Jefferson Senior and G W in Danville.

I believe Blacksburg H. S. finished third in in the state tournament that included all the triple A schools in the state--Granby, Norview, GW of Danville, and the northern Va schools.
