If I remember correctly, the in-person handles finger printing


...and the final paperwork. From that point it took us 4 to 6 weeks to received our permits in the mail from Wake County. I recommend getting them laminated once they arrive. Do not let it expire because then you have to go back through the entire process for a new permit.

Luckily we already had our permits from another state that has reciprocity with NC. Since we became an out-of-state resident after moving back to NC, we had to obtain our NC permits to renew the other state permits.

Other than MN, IL, CA, OR and the handful of commie states in the northeast we are good to travel and carry as we would like.
