Learned about a Pylons Hokie through a high school friend

His mom was married to William Webb (Bill) before he was sent to RVN. He was ambushed on patrol and died in his first 30 days of arriving. His mom remarried a few years later and he was born to them. When he was cleaning out his dad's house (his mom had passed in the 90's), he came across Bill's medals earned in RVN. Not wanting to just trash them, he asked me to "take care of them" as I was associated with the Boy Scouts and would find a home for them. He really didn't know much about Bill but thought they deserved to be taken care of. After some research, discovered he was a Hokie, VTCC Class of 1964 and on the Honor Pylon. My dad had a friend in the VTCC who graduated around then that I still keep in touch with. Called him up and asked if he knew Bill, was blown away to find out he was a good friend of his at VT.

Anyway, I turned the medals over to the Corps, who subsequently found out he had a living sister. My friend and another friend of his from the Corps took the medals to her.

I was able to visit his grave site earlier this year during a camping trip. Kinda closed the lop for me.
