Was interesting game. UVA fans behind me were cursing and talking trash before the game. It got worse as the game went on.

Wife left with kids because of the FREEZING cold and rude surroundings. I stayed with my oldest son - never left a VT game early before, and didn't want to start bad habits.

Wife was in car, with heat, texting me if I was coming. It was miserable. The few of us Hokies that stayed, bonded over the miserable mixture of the cold, the "classy" (beligerant) UVA fans around us, and that we knew coming into the game that the streak was going to send that day.

Then it happened... I don't remember how many strangers in maroon I hugged that night.
And there was not a Hoo to be seen or heard for the rest of that night.
