It was a perfect storm of old machine stopped working, father's day gift,

early in pandemic (so we're at home drinking coffee daily instead of just weekends), and found a pretty big markdown on slick deals.

I haven't had enough cups of coffee from other SCA machines to tell you what it's truly worth. It does make a very good cup of coffee, but is it $100 better than a Bonavita? I don't know. If it lives up to its reputation for reliability, it'll probably have been worth it.
