This is probably not going to be particularly well received, but

i think we may be seeing just how gifted CFB was in crossing race lines, crossing prosperity lines, and just connecting with people like parents and recruits on a real basis. He was like that with everyone, so it stands to reason that when he really put on the charm, it was even better.

CJF is a nice guy by all accounts, but when it comes to personality, he is closer to Belicheck (sp?) than Beamer, and in recruiting 18 year olds away from their parent's nest, that matters a great deal..

I've been pretty much mum on CJF. He had a hard enough job following a living legend who went nowhere after retirement, and his early returns were pretty good, but watching recruiting just a little, that is where he lags and where no team can afford to fall off for long or the climb back is just too steep.

As for Saturday, nothing about that game was characteristic of what I perceive to be a CJF style game. Too many penalties, too many turnovers by someone not necessarily prone to them. I have a hard time laying all of last Saturday at Fuente's doorstep, even though ultimately I know where that is where it belongs, but penalties have never been a problem with his teams much. No coach wants or coaches turnovers. Some may bake them, but no one wants them on a football field.

I have pretty much come to the conclusion that Fuente's biggest failing is recruiting, and even though he projects as a nice enough guy, that isn't what the recruits and parents are seeing when they think of him, and for that reason, I am slowly but surely changing camps in regards to a coaching change.
