Maybe our expectations are too high...
I am aware that in marriage/ relationship therapy there is often talk of exploring expectations. If one partner’s expectations are too high, they are destined for perpetual disappointment and frustration (and finally bitterness and resentment). Even if the other partner manages to meet the expectations of their spouse, then they literally have only managed to dig themselves out of the negatives and crawled up to 0. It’s only after you bypass the expectations that you have made it to positive territory.
Maybe if we expect VT football to be mediocre for now, then we can have a higher probability of being grateful when they are just above mediocrity.
