Valid economic concerns but misleading and short on operational details
The folks who wrote that declaration live in a pretty cozy tower. Not everyone has the ability to warehouse their vulnerable (elderly, pregnant, pre-existing condition like asthma, obese, etc) until herd immunity is reached. And when is that by the way? 65%? 90%? Meanwhile, all those healthy low risk immune systems out there living their best lives will spread the virus and bring back the virus to infect the vulnerable. That declaration not only zooms past how to practically segregate the "most vulnerable" but also seems to ignore the toughest question completely.
"How many deaths are acceptable to alleviate economic suffering?"
If you can answer that question in good conscience then by all means, sign it But what you'd likely see if this "policy" were enacted would be a K-shaped result with respect to deaths.
Here are some documented criticisms of the BD.
