These are interesting cases...but it is based on specific rules


There is a legal definition of an adult and not an adult. It is primarily based on age....though I imagine there are some other stipulations about mental capacity etc

Then there are laws that say that an adult can't do certain things with a non-adult. Sex being one.

The law was violated, no matter what the desires of the non-adult are. The basis is that the non-adult does not have the maturity to make that decision.

You can disagree with the premises of the law, etc. But it is based on logic and was applied here accordingly.

If the minor were female and the adult male, would you consider the law baffling in this situation?

If the minor were 12, would you consider the law baffiling?
