Seems like you're looking for an all or nothing solution, instead of
compromising on some middle ground. The restaurants in town might go out of business if they're forced to close entirely. Not sure, but I'm assuming they are open at some reduced capacity with some measures in place for social distancing. Obviously you have to remove your mask if your eating. However, if you're walking around town - which can get crowded - you should wear a mask because it's a really easy precaution to take, and it really doesn't hurt anyone. Certainly a case to be made that being outside is low risk, but like I said, it's about compromises.
