TIC obviously. Your question is a good one - I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, and probably depends on what your strategy is for a scenario on which you'd have to use your firearms to defend yourselves in an emergency inside your home. I'm certainly no gun expert, and my wife has no experience using a firearm, so in our case we only have one handgun and I store it in a safe in our bedroom. I'd like to get a biometric safe so that I can access the gun more quickly, because fumbling to put in a code when seconds count isn't exactly helpful.

I'd be interested to see what everyone else here thinks.
