I'm no meteorologist, but you peeps on the Gulf Coast should
have your Spidey senses tingling with the latest Laura developments. The lower than predicted path haas put Laura smack dab over the DR, which is usually great news for everyone except Hispanola, of course. But the interaction with the mountains doesn't seem to be all that devastating to Laura right now.
I could see Laura emerging into the Gulf off western Cuba in pretty decent shape. And that is the worst spot for any hurricane development, IMO. All kinds of hurricanes blow up there in a hurry, and head to the Gulf Coast so fast no one is ready (Michael, Wilma, Camille...). The forecast for Laura is changing hourly. Stay ready and safe out there.
