But what is the actual level of risk being minimized?


Is the level of serious health risk to a college student significantly greater than the risk of a serious car accident or encountering serious violent behavior at a college party or bar, etc.

And even if not, short of putting them in a bubble, keeping young athletes among themselves - particularly with the additional preventative and diagnostic measures they will probably be accorded to football athletes (and which they otherwise wouldn't receive) - may actually reduce the risk in practice.
