Maturity is something that must be taught/learned. It isn't something that magically appears as a birthday present when you are old enough.

There are an awful lot of good things in this world that can be dangerous when used immaturely/irresponsibly. That means it is our job to teach our kids how to be responsible, not to isolate them from every danger until they day they move out of the house and have to figure it all out on their own.

Social media can be a toughie, though. It can literally be deadly (i.e. lead to suicide) when used badly by adolescents.
