Nope, I can fully control both from anywhere in the country.

Irrigation controller reads local weather station, doesn't turn on if chance of rain is above 50% or if there has been so much rainfall in past 24 hours as well as past 7 days (and I can adjust those parameters). Also adjusts for humidity, wind, etc. Pretty much paid for itself in the first year in water savings. Funny how many mornings I've looked out and it's raining and my neighbors sprinklers are going.

Lighting control has various settings and programs I can all control via my phone or iPad. Can change colors, timing, set schedules, themes, etc.
