Prince William County Schools retreat from hybrid model plan for the fall
It looked like PWC Schools, the second largest school district in Virginia would opt for a two-day a week model for its schools. But after a contentious school board meeting, the board voted to have the first quarter be fully virtual (although some in person special needs courses will be provided). The district will then move to a hybrid model in the second quarter, assuming conditions allow.
Despite the risks we all live under, I think its a terrible plan. I think its doomed for failure and the kids in the school system will pay the price. We've homeschooled our kids for over have their education. Home schooling works if parents are on board and kids are accountable. But if they're not (which likely describes half the kids in the public school system), the kids are going to pay the price in their education. Going online in the spring was one thing because the schools had basically covered all the material they had too. But the fall is key review, and core concepts for the next year. I think 20 years from now, we'll recognize that we screwed our kids by not finding a way to keep our schools open. [Post edited by Hokie1992 at 07/16/2020 07:15AM]
