The numbers actually appear to be accurate as far as they go. CDC says
Something like 863 deaths per 100,000 per year in the US or 16.6 per week per 100,000. It's hard to tell on the graph about the coronavirus spike and I think it's intentionally drawn to minimize its appearance. It's hard to see anything in 4 months on a 10-year scale. But a delta of about 7 deaths per hundred thousand per week at the peak is about 23,000 in a population of 330 million. That is about what we were seeing at the peak
