PSA for anyone with a variable speed furnace blower motor

If you're blower motor stops working, before you call your HVAC repair guy, check inside the blower motor controller. There's an inrush current limiting resistor that apparently likes to turn to dust. It's a $2 part and replacing it only requires the most basic soldering skills.

Also, if you have an aging variable speed blower that's currently working fine, pick up a spare inrush resistor so you don't have to spend $30 to get one shipped overnight from Digikey.
