Mask vs social distancing?


From what I understand the language has been "you should wear a mask when social distancing is not possible". That is the exact language our school system used in regards to the opening of school. Social distancing is the "6ft rule" right?
If you say "If you can't maintain social distancing...wear a mask." Then I would assume the opposite is " If you can maintain social distancing.....????"
I get that many will say, "just wear a mask all the time, to be safe." But if we are going to say that, we should change it to, "Masks are required at all times no matter how many people or how far away you are from each other. "
