Remember the Virginia accent is characterized by replacing the hard "er" at the end of words with an "ah" sound.
Such as "when we were young"ah" went spent summ "ahs" at The Riv"ah". Words with an "out" or "oat" will sound more like an "oot". An example would be "The Miss Appropriation is a large b"oot" with a length of a"boot" sixty feet. I hope this is helpful when you converse with us.
