I remember going to a bar near a ski resort when...

...you had to either "be a member" or have a member sponsor you. The bartender asked a guy at the bar if he would "sponsor" us, and of course he said "of course."

That was some type of Utah law back then, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist today.
