Seems pretty simple, keep your FOB away from the car

the range on the fobs is probably 30 feet max. So don't store your FOB by your front door/garage door and you'll be good. I know on my car the FOB goes into "sleep mode" if it hasn't been moved after x minutes. I guess this feature helps prevent this kind of theft. However, my keys, wallet, etc get put on my dresser in my BR at night, so well out of the range of any repeater.
