Anyone have fishing advice for the father of a 4 year old in the NRV?

I just moved back to the area(Christiansburg to be specific) in November for the first time since college. I grew up salt water fishing on the northern neck in addition to pond fishing for bass, bream, and crappie but I haven't done so in a while. Im just looking for a simple fishing hole to introduce my 4 year old to the hobby/sport. Rod and tackle tips would also be great.
