but she loved children too much and struggled with that.

She went to the convent to become a nun and resolve that concern. She expected to resolve that love for children by teaching children as a nun.

The Mother Superior called her to her office to tell her she would be leaving the next day. My mother was shocked because she thought she had done something wrong and ask why.

Mother Superior told her:

Your love for children is too strong, you were meant to be a mother not a nun. Now leave and go find a nice man, marry him, and have children.

She met my dad weeks later. They married within 6 month, had 8 kids with tons of grand kids, great grand kids. They were married 62 years until mom died.
