As much as people give Jim Weaver a hard time, he was a fantastic AD


in regards to funding non-rev sports. He actually cared about them somewhat. Bill Dooley was awful. It was disgusting how virtually all athletic revenue back in the 80s/90s went to the Football and basketball both of which went on probation due to NCAA violations. The Ed Painter endowment of $250K was created to fund scholarships specifically for the VT wrestling program. I don't know any wrestlers whoever actually saw much of that money for a loooooooong time.

My high school training (wrestling room and locker room) were better that what VT had available to the team back when I was on the squad (87-91). And my high school was not a "wrestling school" at all
