I could go along with that if the data were actually being reported in that
fashion. (I agree that the number of infected individuals at any point in time is an important number as is the number of people who are hospitalized on any given day. So why don't we get that?) Instead, we get confirmed cases by "event date." Furthermore, we have the lingering "Test results received by public health from all reporting labs. All negative results may not be represented due to the large number of fax reports from new labs testing for COVID-19" footnote. Does that mean they are counting all positive results and some fraction of the total tests?
In my opinion, a much cleaner way to report things is the way Iceland has chosen to do so. Based on their reporting, you can quickly see that their case fatality rate was
