So, after getting a negative result on my
COVID-19 test yesterday, administered gently by a flight nurse, courtesy of FedEx, this morning (yesterday here in Japan) we departed Memphis for our 10 day trip around the 3rd Rock, heading westbound this time on a 13hr flight to Narita, Japan. I have a student again on this trip so we were pretty busy, but it was a mostly uneventful flight. He’s a pretty sharp kid and was well prepared. We get 36 hrs here in Narita before we head out to Guangzhou tomorrow night. The invasive COVID testing in China seems to have been scaled back since my last trip. We’ll ops check that tomorrow.
Here in Narita, we’re pretty much not allowed to leave the hotel. There is a local crew bar here in Narita that has started delivering food to the hotel from one of the popular noodle shops. So, a bunch of us will be meeting about 530p for “dinner”, down stairs here at the hotel, of delivery ramen noodles, gyoza and some big Sapporos, I hope. The bar, called the Jet Lag Club, is known for serving Fireball and I’m hoping to have some delivered. 😎👍🏻
I often forget to eat on the first leg of a trip when I have student as there is lots to cover, but today the flight was long enough and my student is well ahead of the curve and I got to enjoy a cooked meal - the pork ribeye out of Memphis might be the best catering meal in our whole system, and the mashed sweet potatoes are a bonus. 😎👍🏻
